Will is an applied microeconomist in the Data and Structural Analysis Branch at the Commonwealth Treasury. At Treasury, his work has focused on using administrative microdata to generate policy relevant analysis on labour markets, migration, tax responses, and population. Prior to Treasury, Will was a Senior Associate at Grattan Institute, where he led research on migration, labour markets, and COVID-19 policy. He has co-authored reports including Migrants in the Australian workforce: A guidebook for policy makers (Grattan, 2022) and Labour market matching across skills and regions in Australia (Treasury, 2024).
Will is undertaking a PhD in Economics at The Australian National University Crawford School of Public Policy under the supervision of Professor Robert Breunig. His thesis, Essays in Labour Market Task Supply and Demand, will use linked administrative data to examine how health shocks and technological change affect workers' capacity to perform occupational tasks and the heterogeneity of subsequent labour market outcomes.
