The Sir Roland Wilson Foundation is committed to supporting participation of scholars from a broad range of backgrounds, experiences and locations to participate fully and authentically in the Sir Roland Wilson and Pat Turner scholarship and alumni programs.
Driving demand and diversity is highlighted as a priority under the Foundation’s Strategy 2026-30. Accordingly, the Foundation is committed to increasing the participation and representation in its scholarship programs, as well as research generated under the scholarship, of people of diverse ages, genders, cultural backgrounds, disabilities, First Nations people, LGBTIQA+ people, and people who are neurodivergent.
Below, you will find information about how we can provide support to you, from application, through the scholarship and as a member of the alumni community.
How we support diversity and inclusion
We are continually striving to improve the accessibility and inclusiveness of the Sir Roland Wilson and Pat Turner scholarships. We do this by:
- providing access to support opportunities
- offering scholarships across a variety of research and study programs
- building Sir Roland Wilson Foundation capability on diversity and inclusion
- working to create a culture that is accessible, inclusive and safe for all
- inviting, listening to and acting on feedback.
Application support
We can provide support for you to apply for a Sir Roland Wilson or Pat Turner scholarship. For example, we may be able to provide support by:
- offering accessible information sessions
- providing reasonable adjustments to support participation in the application and selection processes
- providing questions ahead of the interview in an accessible format.
Scholarship support
If you are awarded a Sir Roland Wilson or Pat Turner scholarship, we're here to help throughout your scholarship journey. For example, we may be able to provide support by:
- ensuring scholarship information is clear and accessible
- for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait scholars, offering peer connection with other Pat Turner scholars and alumni and access to First Nations mentors
- scholar buddy and senior APS mentor programs
- providing culturally safe and accessible Foundation events
- funding for reasonable adjustments to support travel (for eligible PhD scholars only)
- funding for reasonable costs relating to care of dependants to support travel (for eligible PhD scholars only)
- sharing advice on university academic and wellbeing supports.
Alumni support
We want you to stay engaged with the Sir Roland Wilson Foundation community upon completion of your scholarship and university graduation. For example, we may be able to provide support by:
- ensuring information is clear and accessible
- ensuring Sir Roland Wilson Foundation events are easily accessible and culturally safe and making adjustments when necessary.
