The Sir Roland Wilson Foundation held an official welcome for the 2024-25 commencing scholars this week.

In Semester 2 2024, four scholars commenced their studies at The Australian National University (ANU) and Charles Darwin University (CDU), while nine scholars commence in Semester 1 2025. Commencing scholars are:

  • Vanessa Barone, Sir Roland Wilson scholar from the Australian Public Service Commission
  • Michelle Bedford, Pat Turner scholar from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Kylie Bishop, Pat Turner scholar from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water
  • Ronald Fujii, Pat Turner scholar from Torres Strait Regional Authority
  • Josiah Hickson, Sir Roland Wilson scholar from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations
  • Kelsie Johnston, Pat Turner scholar from Services Australia
  • Aaron Mollross, Sir Roland Wilson scholar from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts
  • Holly Noble, Sir Roland Wilson scholar from the Department of Finance
  • Dolly Nye, Pat Turner scholar from the Department of Health and Aged Care
  • Sharon Rosenrauch, Sir Roland Wilson scholar from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water
  • Jami-Lee Saxon, Pat Turner scholar from Services Australia
  • Robert Scott, Pat Turner scholar from the National Indigenous Australians Agency
  • Diane Takurit, Pat Turner scholar from the Department of Finance

Sir Roland Wilson Foundation Chair Dr Martin Parkinson AC PSM said the Sir Roland Wilson Foundation had now awarded 103 scholarships – from PhDs in law, economics, climate change, gender equality and cybersecurity to master programs in public policy, health, leadership, and psychology.

“Each year, I am impressed by the achievements of Foundation scholars and alumni,” Dr Parkinson said.

“I encourage each of you to seize this incredible opportunity to its fullest – with curiosity, creativity and courage.

“I look forward to seeing the impact you will make as you progress your studies and research and return to the public service.”

The Sir Roland Wilson Scholarship is a three-year, full-pay scholarship for PhD research at The Australian National University for high performing EL1 and EL2 Australian Public Service employees.

The Pat Turner scholarship is a one-to-three year, full-pay scholarship for any level of postgraduate study at ANU or Charles Darwin University for high performing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander APS 4 to SES Band 1 APS employees.
