The Pat Turner Scholarship offers an extraordinary opportunity to tread in the footsteps of a giant of leadership
The Sir Roland Wilson Foundation is pleased to announce two Pat Turner scholarships awardees for commencement at The Australian National University (ANU) in Semester 2, 2026.
The scholarship awardees are:
- Amanda Lilley from Attorney-General’s Department to study a Master of International Relations at the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific
- Dolly Nye from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to study a Master of Philosophy at the ANU College of Science and Medicine.
Dolly is currently studying a Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at ANU with the support of a Pat Turner scholarship. The research she conducts through her Master of Philosophy will build on her studies to develop a cultural safety framework for Aboriginal Elders living in aged care facilities.
Amanda says the Master of International Relations will help her to further develop her diplomacy and negotiation capabilities.
“Such expertise is crucial in this time of global uncertainty and unrest and can be applied to roles across the Australian Public Service, whether internationally or domestically focused,” Amanda says.
“The Pat Turner Scholarship offers an extraordinary opportunity to tread in the footsteps of a giant of leadership.
“It emboldens me to believe that in my APS career I might contribute some fraction of the huge impact made by this powerful and pivotal APS leader.”
Since 2018, the Sir Roland Wilson Foundation has awarded 46 Pat Turner scholarships to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australian Public Service employees from 17 agencies.
The Pat Turner Scholarship is a one-to-three year, full-pay scholarship for any level of postgraduate study at ANU or Charles Darwin University for high performing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander APS 4 to SES Band 1 Australian public servants or eligible PGPA entity employees.
